🌿 Buhweju Awakens: Eco-Tourism Festival 2025 Set to Light Up the Hills

From the misty hills of Buhweju to the rhythmic echoes of traditional drums, a new spirit is rising—one that calls communities back to their roots and invites the world to witness the untold beauty of a land steeped in nature and heritage.

This July, Buhweju District will host the Buhweju Eco-Tourism and Cultural Festival 2025, a three-day celebration of culture, environment, and hope. Running from 25th to 27th July, this event promises more than a festival—it’s a movement.

Why Buhweju? Why Now?

Often overlooked, Buhweju is one of Uganda’s hidden gems—its landscapes wild, its culture rich, and its stories waiting to be told. With waterfalls like Mukazi-anyara, caves like Nyungu, and sacred forests such as Kasyoha-Kitomi, this is a land where nature and history hold hands.

But the people of Buhweju want more than beauty—they want progress rooted in identity. And that’s exactly what this festival offers: a platform to promote conservation, tourism, and community development, all while celebrating what makes Buhweju unique.

🎉 What to Expect

🌳 Buhweju Go Green Campaign

The festival kicks off with a massive tree-planting initiative to promote environmental awareness. Over 500 seedlings will be distributed and planted in schools, homes, and across the hills of Buhweju.

🏃‍♂️ Eco-Tourism Run & Hiking Adventures

Strap on your hiking boots! Whether you’re racing to Mukazi-anyara waterfalls or trekking through Kasyoha-Kitomi Forest Reserve, the land will speak to you—through its beauty, silence, and power.

🛍️ Business, Culture & Craft Exhibitions

From local honey and handmade crafts to eco-stoves and indigenous food, experience Buhweju’s innovation and tradition side by side. Cultural groups, musicians, and schools will bring the district’s heritage to life on stage.

The event will honor local heroes—people who’ve dedicated themselves to improving their communities through leadership, culture, and conservation.
